I hadn't missed the first 4.. or 5 Independence Day fireworks since I came to NY, but every time I thought about is Japanese fireworks. They are the best. Period.

But the thing is that this happens only once a year, and it's not only about fireworks, obviously. So I still like this fireworks, too.

This year, I could get to up on the rooftop of Don's apartment. Until 2 year ago, the fireworks had been set on the East River, but somehow they changed it to Hudson River. I wasn't really excited to take great pictures of fireworks, but it was kind of nice to look over Manhattan skyline. Looking around, there were parties everywhere. Like crazy parties. We were just interested in taking pictures, and fortunately, the weather was awesome. The sunset was awesome. I really like the view of Brooklyn rooftop scenery. It's another moment I feel happy to be here.

NYに来た当初、最初の４、５回は毎年見逃さなかった独立記念日の花火ですが、いつも思ったのは日本の花火の素晴らしさです。日本の花火はよく「作品名」とかついていて、芸術の域です。しかし一年に一度しか見れないこの花火も、花火だけではない意味合いと盛り上がりがあって、それはそれで好きです。

今年は、彼の家の屋上に上がることができました。２年前まではブルックリンとマンハッタンの間を流れるイーストリバーに花火が設置されていたのですが、最近はなぜかマンハッタンの向こう側のハドソンリバーから上がるようになって、なので今回も花火の超きれいな写真を取ることはあきらめていたのですが、摩天楼越しに見える花火もなかなか良いものでした。見回すと、周りはパーティーだらけで、ディスコボールまで回っているところもありました。

天気もよく、夕日がとてもきれいでした。周りの建物もだいたい同じ高さなので、なんとなくもうひとつの世界がひろがっているような感じで、そういうのを見ると、あらためてブルックリンラブなのでした。
