学校が始まって１０日。クラスは水曜日にしかないので、時間の制約自体は少ないですが、その分プロジェクトの濃度が濃いので、タイムマネジメントが必須です。苦手な分野です。
来年はもうクラスがないとか思うとなんだか寂しい感じです。日本で大学に行っていたときは学校に行きたくなくてしょうがなかったのに、かといって今行っている学校が好きかというとそういうわけでもないんですが、やはりあと半年もしたらこの変な緊張感とかウザい群衆とかそういったものから離れるとなると、今吸収できるもの、感じられるものを最大にしたいと思えてくるのです。



About 10 days since this semester has started. I'm taking just 2 classes this semester, and so I have quite a lot of free time, but it's the Senior Project. I dropped it last semester, since it was just overwhelming. I'm not good at dealing things at the same time, especially when it comes to the things I really want to make awesome. I can't mess it up this time.

Thinking it's the last semester, I feel like I need to grab as much as I can. I never liked school when I was in Japan. I'm still not liking school in general, but it's a weird feeling that I'm not in this annoying crowd and not being stressed out all the time.. in less than 4 months.

Back to school. Finally. And hopefully, this will be the final semester!

ついに明日からまた学校が始まります。気合い入れにメキシカンチキンライムスープを作りました。辛い！けど止まらない‥。

明日あたり、ハリケーンがやってきます。地震といい、ハリケーンといい、ここ最近は自然のミラクルてんこ盛りです。NYにやってくるのは珍しい上に、かなり大きいらしいので、スーパーに行くとみんな買い溜めしてました。という私も今までになく食材買い込んで、準備万端です。

今日フェイスブックなんかで出回った上の表は、ハリケーン対策のNYとほかのところを比較してます。ジョークですが、かなり正確です。２００２年の大停電のときもそうだったんですが、突然の出来事や災難に際しても変化球で対処しようとする姿勢が都会だなと思います。

organizing life.

It's been about 2 and half weeks since I came back from Japan, and all I've done is clean and reorganize my room. And that was a lot of work. I tried to figure out what I really need now and throw away the other stuff. or donate them. I sold most of the books I've read and that only made me feel like something new and more valuable are coming.

Just sorting out everything was quite a work and I realized that "things" really accumulates over time. Remembering I landed in this country 10 years ago with just 2 suitcases, now it's become a history of "life". All the things I collected for a reason here and there...

Anyways, it's somewhat organized now, I had to get to work on school stuff before it starts. Hopefully my final semester. Who knows after that. Seriously, what am I doing a year from now?

Urban Vintage Cafe in my neighborhood was pleasant for a quick mood change. Yeah, I just need to get things done, rather than thinking about future.

NYに帰ってきて２週間半経ちました。帰ってきてしていたことといえば部屋の片付けと掃除です。日本にいるときからもう、いらないものを捨てたくてしょうがなくてうずうずしていたのですが、実際に取りかかると大変でした。あるものすべてに目を通して、何が今必要なのか選別するのに時間がかかったのと、捨てるものと寄付に出すもの、売るものなど分けて行くその作業がまたけっこうしんどいのでした。

とりあえず少しはすっきりした今、学校が始まるまであとちょっとなので、始まって頭を抱えることにならないよう少しでも準備しておこうと思い、近所のカフェで気分転換を兼ねてプロジェクトの下準備をすることにしました。

先のことは気になるけども、今やらなくてはいけないことをこなしていくしかないですね。

NYはすっかり秋モードがかってますが、ほんとうに、時間が経つのは早いものです‥。

hair accessories by colette malouf

Deycke gave me these awesome hair accessories by Colette Malouf. She worked with her for the latest lookbook, and Colette gave her a bag of goodies that was used in the photoshoot. And she gave me some. So gorgeous! I don't know where and when to put them on my hair, but I'm just loving them. Another good thing about having a hair/makeup artist as roommate.

Deycke is really good at classic style, and she's definitely showing it off on the lookbook.

ルームメイトのDeyckeが、こんなかわいいヘアアクセをくれました。コレット・マルーフというアーティストのもので、Deyckeが彼女の最新のルックブックの撮影でヘアを担当した際に、撮影が終わってからコレットがその日使ったアクセサリーなどをいっぱいくれたそうです。そのおこぼれがこれなんです。素敵すぎてラブです。いつどこで、これをつける機会があるか見当つきませんが。

それにしてもDeyckeは本当にクラシックなスタイルが得意で、この１９２０年代を意識したルックブックでも存分に実力発揮といった感じです。ルームメイトがヘアメイクのアーティストというのはこういうことがあってお得です。

Even my mom complained that I hadn't updated it for long. And I came back after all.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting much about Japan this time, even though this is the visit since almost 5 years ago. One of the reasons is living in New York doesn't really mean I'm far away from home. THE internet has made the world smaller.

But actually, I think I'm having a bit of culture shock. I think Japanese people are the most polite people in the world. I mean, those... shop staff and waiters.. Nothing is wrong with it, but it feels a bit too much to me.

Been here just about a week now, and I have a month here. Will be busy.

日本に帰ってきて早々、母が「結局更新しなかったね」とボヤいておりました。

今回は、４年半ぶりの日本とはいえ、前回に比べるとあまり「日本に帰る！！！！！」と超わくわくモード全開でもなく、それなりに楽しめればよいかなという感じだったのですが、１週間ほど経つ今、なんだか軽いカルチャーショックを受けている感じです。特に、お店とかレストランに行くと、待遇が良すぎてこっちが困っている感じというか‥。なんなんでしょうか、この違和感は。サービス業の方々の態度は、日本が一番じゃないでしょうか。それ自体なんの問題もないんですが、かといって街ですれ違うひとの「どうでも良い感じ」がなんだか微妙です。

とりあえずあと１ヶ月、あっという間に過ぎそうですが。しかし暑い‥。
